5 out of 5 stars Solid and dependable   July 3, 2007

The battery on my big 100-lap watch wore down, I put on my little dinky Timex 30-lap model, then in an idle moment I plunked for this 150-lap number, nearly identical to my 100-lap version. It arrived recently. Oboy it's heavy after wearing the little dinky one. It's also got stiffer buttons than my other Timexes. That's good. Less likely that I'll hit the lap button accidentally.

This is my fifth Ironman Triathlon in two years. Why would you want this many watches of the same general type? Well for one thing, they're pretty cheap. I lose at least one watch a year. For another, you always have a backup. They all have two time-zone settings and various alarms--great for travel. But mostly I like the familiar function menu of the Ironman Triathlon buttons. Southwest button changes display, southeast stops/resets, northeast is the light, northwest recalls your laps. This system has remained the same for many years. Even if my brain forgets the sequence, my hand remembers.

General recommendation for athletic watches: always go for the big display and the maximum number of laps.

Very sharp and reliable in action. Large numbers and letters make it easy to get accurate splits.
Unfortunately does not fit under the cuff of a standard dress shirt. I refuse to wear a conventional watch to work, so this one is always visible. The band is a lot larger than I expected, but very reliable.

5 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect Runner's Watch   December 4, 2008

I prefer watches to timepieces (i.e., clunky status symbols such as Rolex). This watch is nearly perfect for runners, or anyone else for that matter. It is very comfortable, inexpensive, and weather resistant. Large LCD display is great for aging eyes. Large workout storage. Three very versatile alarms (daily, specific day, weekends only settings). Dual time capability great for when traveling to a different time zone. The light button is not the same as the reset like some Nike watches I have owned, so one doesn't wear out the battery quickly when using the reset button. The watch is not perfect as one can only clear the last workout or all the workouts. It would be nice to scroll through saved workouts and clear any desired one. Maybe it does have that ability, but I haven't figured out how to do it. Also, the bands aren't replaceable, but at $40 - $60 I have no problem buying a new one every three years. I have several of the Timex Sleek models and I recomend them highly.

5 out of 5 stars A BEST BUY SPORTS WATCH !!!   February 4, 2008

This Timex Ironman Triathlon is a great sports watch. It is light yet durable with the stainless steal case. The band is great and breathable.

Its got water resistance to 100m. That means with it's breathable rubber strap, you can go swimming, running, biking, pretty much anything but diving with this thing. Come-on how many of us actually do dive to 200m? We sit by the pool or beach and maybe go on a boat....this watch will cover it plus some.

This style is much better than the black faced digital style watches that are out there now. I find the black faced digital are cooller looking and more trendy with Freestyle, Guess, and Kenneth Cole all seller them but from experience, the black face digital is harder to read and you need the backlight on much more often compared to the grey back ground digitals. This has the easier to read grey dial.

The Amazon price for this otherwise expensive digital watch is amazing. This same watch....the very same one is priced at Dicks Sporting Goods for about $[...]. Sports Authority sells this watch for $[...] and even Target has this watch marked to sell at $[...]. Amazon has the best prices for a lot of goods but this is by far the best deal I have found on Amazon in a while.

This is a steal especially if you have Amazon Prime and can get the free shipping.

Absolutely no complains with this watch. Unlimited intervals, countdowns and multiple times are working great for training, multiple alarms to keep you on time, the resin strap does not keep water at all and the watch overall looks great. If there is one thing - the notification beeps could be louder. Overall - Highly recommended.
